Description

The DRGN combat drone was developed by Ingrum Robotics to meet a need for a powerful, intimidating assault drone for the military. The DRGN is built to appear as a standard dragon, its sleek, smooth nano-polymer alloy armor plating gives the unit a factory standard dull flat dark grey color with its unit number and the Ingrum logo on its left shoulder.

Weapon Systems

Being a combat drone, the DRGN is armed with a variety of lethal and nonlethal weaponry. Stock on all DRGN's are two stripped down 7.62x51 light machine guns mounted in coaxial with its head, just above the jaw. Concealed in it's shoulders are standard twin Archer missile launchers, each carrying eight of the multi-role, hypersonic missiles. Extending from behind panels on the chest and a turreted mechanism that retracts into its back are modular weapon mounting rigs. The chest rig is used to house heavy weapons, usually a 40mm auto cannon or a 120mm hyper kinetic rail gun and the turreted rig wielding a fifty caliber anti-air machine gun or a plasma caster. The DRGN is also equipped with retractable laser sharpened, armor piercing claws and teeth. Complement of nonlethal weapons includes smoke and tear gas canister launchers on its hind legs and and high frequency sonic pacification system located in its mouth. The DRGN is also equipped with a small nanite factory, which can slowly rebuild spent ammunitions, including missiles.

Power Systems

The DRGN is equipped with a miniaturized Tams-Harvey fusion reactor. Unfortunately the reactor is unable to power the DRGN while it is active for more than sixteen hours. The unit must shutdown and enter a sleep mode, in which all in unnecessary systems are deactivated and the unit's batteries are recharged by the reactor. The DRGN unit is also capable of "eating" and "drinking", the unit can consume nutritional organic matter and process it in a chemical reactor to supplement power to its batteries, using any cold liquids as coolant for its reactor. Waste is deconstructed by internal nanite factories.

Flight Systems

Flight is obtained through large thrusters located where a living dragon's wings would be. The powerful ion thrusters can push the DRGN unit up to speeds exceeding 400 miles per hour. Steering is achieved by way of adjusting the main engines, the head, and the tail in flight.
